Photo Gallery: Closing of the IV Dilemmas of Humanity Conference

On the final day of the IV Dilemmas of Humanity Conference, the synthesis of the debates was presented by João Pedro Stedile—economist, founder, and member of the national leadership of the Landless Workers' Movement (MST)—and Juliane Furno—professor at the Faculty of Economics at the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), researcher at the Tricontinental Institute, and activist in the Popular Brazil Movement. The closing remarks of both political leaders revolved around the need to continue the work addressed throughout the panels of the IV Dilemmas of Humanity Conference.

The emphasis was on continuing to build the Dilemmas of Humanity process with optimism and serious proposals, as it is essential to maintain these spaces of integration across different regions of the world. “SESC-Pompéia functioned as a space for recharging, but now it’s up to us to take these discussions to the places where we hold responsibility,” said Stedile. The MST leader explained that SESC was once a drum factory that was later converted into a cultural center. The building, inaugurated in 1982, was designed by Lina Bo Bardi, an architect who was a member of the Italian Communist Party and part of the Resistance during World War II.
